Ecommerce website design for increased conversations and visibility
Marmalade Art are a manufacturer and online retailer of custom-made wallpaper murals helping their customers to transform any room at home or at work.
Marmalade approached Oxfinder to rebuild their existing ecommerce website which was struggling to provide consumer confidence throughout the buying process, resulting in sales figures well below target. Although a relatively new business, they have a wealth of experience within the home decor industry and had expected greater outcomes after significant investment across the entire organisation including website design, development and marketing.
Oxfinder and Marmalade Art worked very closely to identify the most appropriate style, structure and functionality which would provide the foundation for the website design and development process. Daily conversations, ideas sharing, and weekly progress updates helped to create a strong collaborative approach to the project from the initial stages through to the eventual launch.
Ecommerce website design with a phased launch
The design and development of the website was one of the largest undertaken by Oxfinder in terms of functionality complexity, size of product inventory, and the site-wide consideration for optimising for both website visitors and search engines. Built in WordPress and WooCommerce, with AJAX and PHP required for complex functionality, the new ecommerce website was launched with a phased approach.
The objective of the first phase was to establish an online platform which provided an enjoyable experience for visitors and encourage them to purchase; and to establish a credible domain which search engines would start to take seriously. The objective for the second phase of development focuses on improving product pages with better product room-set images; and an improved user interface where customers not only add their wall dimensions and material options, but can also visually adjust their chosen product within the dimensions they set.
Phase one launched after 7 months, and phase 2 is currently ongoing.
Delivering ecommerce website design that gets results
The new website launched in 2021 Q1 and the improvement to online sales was immediate.
409% increase in website sales revenue
449% increase in website orders
Data based on the first 5 months since launch compared to the same period in previous year.
It goes without saying that both Oxfinder and Marmalade Art are delighted with the outcome following phase 1, and there are high expectations for phase 2 outcomes.
